Cedric the Entertainer hosted an evening of awards and performances at the 2005 American Music Awards.

Double winners for the evening included Tim McGraw (Favorite Country Male Artist & Favorite Country Album), Black Eyed Peas (Favorite Pop/Rock Group & Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Group), Destiny's Child (Favorite R&B Group & Favorite R&B Album).

Mariah Carey led off the show and took home the award for Favorite Favorite R&B Female Artist. Along with other contemporary performances, there were performances by Cyndi Lauper, Eurythmics, and the Rolling Stones.
