The Miami Heat won their second championship in team history when they defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 4 games to 1 in the 2012 NBA Finals. The Thunder were making their first finals appearance since the franchise moved from Seattle.

LeBron James was named the MVP of the Finals.

The series began later than usual because of a lockout that pushed the start of the season to late December and shortened the regular season to 66 games.
