Republican Robert Bentley was the winner of the open governor's position in Alabama. He defeated DFLer Ron Sparks by 16 percentage points.

Senator Richard Shelby easily won re-election over challenger William G Barnes.

Newly elected to Congress in 2010 for Alabama were Martha Roby in the 2nd District, Mo Brooks in the 5th District and Terri Sewell (the lone Democrat) in the 7th District.
