Who Won New York Elections in 2010?
Incumbent Democratic Governor David Paterson chose not to run for a full-term in 2010 leaving an open seat. Attorney General and Democrat Andrew Cuomo defeated Republican Carl Paladino to be the next Governor of New York.
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, who had been appointed to take Hilary Clinton's spot, won a special election to officially complete the remainder of Clinton's term. Senator Chuck Schumer easily won re-election to another 6-year term.
Five Republicans defeated incumbent Democrats for seats in Congress. They included Mike Grimm in the 13th, Nan Hayworth in the 19th, Chris Gibson in the 20th, Richard Hanna in the 24th and Ann Marie Buerkle in the 25th.
