Republican Jeff Bell was defeated by incumbent Democratic Senator Cory Booker. Booker won his first full term after winning a special election in 2013.
Nine of the twelve House of Representatives elections were won by incumbents. The new members of Congress include Donald Norcross in the 1st District, Tom MacArthur in the 3rd District, and Bonnie Watson Coleman in the 12th District.
