Alabama defeated Clemson 45-40 and won the national championship - the fourth title under coach Nick Saban.

The Crimson Tide broke open a close game with an onside kick early in the 4th quarter. Quarterback Jake Coker ended with 335 passing yards and two scores. Heisman winner Derrick Henry had 158 yards and three touchdowns. O.J. Howard had 208 receiving yards and caught the two touchdowns from Coker.

The Tigers went into the game as the only undefeated team in the country, and quarterback Deshaun Watson had an amazing game in the loss with 405 passing yards and four touchdowns.
