The Detroit Red Wings won their 11th Stanley Cup when they defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4 games to 2. It was the first title for Detroit since 2002.

It was the first time back in the finals for the Penguins since winning back-to-back titles in 1991 and 1992.

Detroit's Henrik Zetterberg was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player in the playoffs.
