Alec Martinez of the Los Angeles Kings scored in double overtime of game five to win their second Stanley Cup title in three seasons.

It was the third overtime game in the finals, and the longest game the Kings had ever played. The winning goal came at 14:43 of the second overtime.

Late season acquisition Marian Gaborik had the tying goal in game seven, led the playoffs with 14 total goals, and won the cup for the first time in his 13-year career.

In their first-round matchup against San Jose, the Kings had trailed 3 games to 0 and won four straight to advance. They also faced two elimination games against Anaheim in the second round.

Justin Williams of the Kings won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoffs most valuable player. He had 25 points in 26 postseason games.
