Patric Hornqvist hit an empty net with 1:02 remaining in game six to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 3-1 win and a 4-2 series win over the San Jose Sharks.

It was the fourth Stanley Cup for Pittsburgh and first since 2009. The Sharks were making their first appearance in the finals in team history.

Sidney Crosby won the Conn Smythe trophy as the MVP of the playoffs despite not scoring a goal. Phil Kessel led the Penguins in scoring during the postseason with 22 points.
