Brad Keselowski passed Ryan Newman on the white flag of a three-lap shootout and held on to win the 2017 Alabama 500. With the win Keselowski automatically advanced to the semi-finals of the Cup Series playoffs.

Three accidents slowed the later laps. The biggest involved 16 cars and seven of the 12 playoff drivers.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. had the pole and Joey Logano led the most laps with 59.
