Republican Texas Senator John Cornyn won re-election in 2008 over Democrat Rick Noriega.
Texas was one of the few states where a Republican challenger defeated a DFL incumbent for a congressional office. In the 22nd District Republican Pete Olson (pictured left) defeated incumbent Nick Lampson.
Incumbents ran in and won all of the other 31 congressional districts in Texas.
Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison's term expires in 2012 and the next Texas Gubanatorial Election is in 2010.
John McCain won Texas' 34 electoral votes.
