San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum pulled out a three man race to win his second consecutive National League Cy Young Award.

The two Cardinals aces, Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright, finished second and third. Wainwright actually received the most first place votes.

Lincecum went 15-7 with a 2.48 ERA and 261 strikeouts. He became the pitcher with the lowest win total to win the Cy Young in either league.

Lincecum became the first pitcher to win back-to-back Cy Young awards since Randy Johnson who won four in a row from 1999-2002.
