Albert Pujols of the St Louis Cardinals received all 32 first place votes and was the unanimous winner of the 2009 National League Most Valuable Player Award.
This was the second consecutive MVP award for Pujols and his third overall. Stan Musial is the only other Cardinal with three MVP awards. Pujols batted .327 with 47 home runs and 135 RBIs.
Finishing in second place was Hanley Ramirez of the Marlins.
