Who Won the American League Rookie of the Year?
Every year since 1949 the Baseball Writers' Association has selected a Rookie of the Year in both the American and National Leagues. In 1947 and 1948 the award was given to one player from both leagues combined. In 1987 the award became known as the Jackie Robinson award - who was the first winner back in 1947.
