At the 69th Annual Emmy Awards "The Handmaid's Tale" became the first online TV show to win Outstanding Drama Series. The miniseries "Big Little Lies" had a big night with also five wins. The most wins in the comedy category went to "Saturday Night Live."

The 2017 Major League Baseball All Star Game was played in Miami and the American League won for the fifth time in a row. MVP Robinson Cano hit the game-winning home run in the 10th inning. This was the first All-Star Game since 2002 where the outcome did not determine home field advantage in the World Series.

The Golden State Warriors won their 2nd NBA title in three years with a four games to one series win over the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers. The two teams have met in the last three finals. The Warriors went 16-1 in their playoff run.

The musical "Dear Evan Hansen" was the big winner at the 71st Annual Tony Awards taking six awards including Best Musical. The revival of "Hello, Dolly!" also had a good night winning four Tonys. "Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet Of 1812" had the most nominations with 12.

Stanley CupStanley Cup
The Pittsburgh Penguins repeated as Stanley Cup champions with a four games to two series win over the Nashville Predators. Series MVP Sidney Crosby became the first player since Wayne Gretzky in 1986-87 to lead the league in goals and then go on to win the Cup. Goalie Matt Murray ended the series with two consecutive shutouts.
