Adele opened the 59th Annual Grammy Awards with a performance of her hit song "Hello," and then went on to be the big winner of the night taking five Grammys home. She swept the big three awards of song of the year, record of the year, and album of the year.

The Atlanta Falcons built a seemingly insurmountable 28-3 lead in Super Bowl 51, but the New England Patriots would then score 31 unanswered points for the 34-28 overtime victory. Tom Brady became the quarterback with the most career Super Bowl wins with five, and coach Bill Belichick has the most Super Bowl wins as a head coach.

Serena Williams won her record-breaking 23rd Grand Slam singles title by defeating sister Venus 6-4, 6-4. On the men's side, Roger Federer had a bit of a comeback victory and won his 18th Grand Slam singles title in a five-set match over Rafael Nadal.

The movie "Fences" and the TV show "The Crown" both won a couple awards at the 23rd SAG Awards. "Hidden Figures" won the Best Motion Picture Cast, "Orange Is The New Black" won the Best Comedy Series Cast, and "Stranger Things" was a surprise winner for Best Drama Series Cast.

People's Choice Awards
"Finding Dory" won Favorite Movie and star Ellen DeGeneres won three other individual awards. DeGeneres now has 20 career People's Choice Awards. Other multiple winners included Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Blake Shelton, and the TV show "Outlander."
