"Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" won three times for Best Actress (Frances McDormand), Best Supporting Actor (Sam Rockwell) and Acting Ensemble.

DeVonta Smith scored on a 41-yard touchdown pass from Tua Tagovailoa in overtime to give Alabama a 26-23 win over Georgia and the school's fifth national championship in the last nine years. Tagovailoa entered the game at halftime to replace a struggling Jalen Hurts and proceeded to toss three touchdown passes.

"Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" won four Golden Globes including Best Motion Picture Drama. "Lady Bird" and "The Shape Of Water" each won two awards. In television "Big Little Lies" was the big winner with four awards. "The Handmaid's Tale" and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" also won multiple awards.

The 13th season of the singing competition show The Voice was won by Chloe Kohanski, whose coach was Blake Shelton. The four coaches where Shelton, Adam Levine, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson. For the first time, all three finalists were female.

Oklahoma senior quarterback Baker Mayfield received 732 first-place votes and ran away with the 2017 Heisman Trophy. He finished the 2017 regular season with a 71% completion percentage, 4340 passing yards, 41 touchdowns and only five interceptions.
