The New York City Marathon is held annually in the fall. The course runs through the boroughs of New York City. The first race was run in 1970 and was won by Garie Muhrcke. It has been run every year since 1970 - except for 2012 when the race was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy and 2020 due to COVID-19.
